I saw one of his movies once on tv years ago. It was very reminiscent of the UK's Confessions series of sex comedies. Lame slapstick and pantomimic sex was what they offered. Instantly forgettable movies only liked by the moronic fans of trashy titillation. |

I watched From Dusk Till Dawn. The first 45 min were really good, until it got to the terrible special effects and demons, then I turned it off.

I enjoyed the book, haven't seen the picture yet, hope it's good. My first Truffaut. Quite good, kid's a genius actor.

More Russ Meyer.
Comon Law Cabin. 5/10. Solid but unspectacular Meyer. Cherry, Harry and Raquel. 6/10. Underrated Meyer. Also, last night. Logan's Run. 5/10. Alright, but only really enjoyable because of Jenny Agutter's bum. |

"The Road" was decent and I love John Hillcoat and the Garret Dillahunt cameo was great but it really didn't live up to the prose of McCarthy's novel. I hope Todd Field does a good job with "Blood Meridian", probably the most ambitious novel adaptation since "Moby Dick", which sucked as a film. Anyone else hear that Cronenberg and Mortensen are doing a sequel to "Eastern Promises", oh fuck yeah! And I watched "Brazil" and the first season of "it's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" last night.

Yet more Meyer.
UP! 4/10. I can never decide if this feels like Jess Franco trying to make a Russ Meyer movie or vice versa. Either way, not very good. |

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. 7/10. Not my favourite Meyer (Vixen) but very much up there. |

"Up in the Air" was hard to not love, in my opinion. Anna Kendrick's performance was the best I've seen from a "Who the fuck is that?" actress in a long time. Great cameos, Zach Gal, Danny McBride, J.K. Simmons, etc..
Besides the great performances, "The Men Who Stare at Goats" was pretty awful. Spacey was hilarious and Jeff Bridges was at his best. Anyone hear of the next Cronenberg film "The Talking Cure" starring Viggo as Sigmund Freud? Already my most anticipated film and it won't be out until next year.
