Everything ever released by Trail of Dead comes to mind. Live they really are good, but their albums have that big dumb alternative sound I hate. I say this as a friend of Conrad's who's married to a former member of the band...

all of yes' albums in the 70's; their bootlegs kill but the albums...i can't really listen to them that much.

leanord cohen's "im your man" is pretty overproduced. im a leanord uber-fan and i love this record, but a couple songs, like first we take mahattan, are produced like fucking disco songs! the female backup singing is sooooo cheesy, and they should have been used to make the song more eerie and powerful like the stones' gimme shelter.
