The reason I say Pelt is because (it seems to me) that's the kind of sound many of the loopy droney folks are aiming for, but fail to reach.

The fact that the members of Pelt can each play the ass off of his instrument makes their potential for more interesting abstractions far greater than a lot of their contemporaries. Not that some of their "untutored" bretheren aren't making worthwhile music, of course, but part of the reason Pelt are such a powerhouse is due to their sheer prowess as versatile and dextrous players in whatever style they choose to work in.

I think they may be in remission at the moment. Don't quote me on that, though.

I forgot about emo. Fucking sucks. Although MCR's "Helena" was a guilty pleasure of mine for a while.

people who i can trust inform me that there was a lot of good french pop music in the 60s, i don't really know enough myself to back that up other than the sound track to Un Homme Et Une Femme being fantastic and a track a friend put on a mixtape for me by a guy named Joel Favreau

the current trend of overthetop screaming followed immediately by bubblegum pop vocals is what has been annoying me most recently

I'll be sure to tell the hundreds of thriving opera houses across the world this when I see them.

Not worst, but close: late 90s top 40 acts - e.g. Hootie and the blowfish, Sugar Ray, Barenaked Ladies, Smashmouth, Counting Crows, etc. somewhat enjoyable at first, but they played them ad libitum on the radio...
