[quote=Diesel]catholic block. steve's drumming style on this song was never tried before and he hasn't done it again since!? the fast drum rolls, the dance-ish hi hat twang and add to that a trademark lush 80's sy ending (which is too short leaving you wanting more) contribute to my allmighty highly inconsistent opinion.
who the fecks with me? i'm right about the drums aren't i. ybaybaa I'm with you, diesel. First time I heard this song, I said :" wow, is it possible ? This is a fucking good sound ! Nobody can do better." Then, My second choise is Schzophrenia. |

right now . . . because this exercise is impossible . . . and also because i wanted to throw in some love for rather ripped . . . i'm gonna opt for pink steam. that fucking tune has been getting me out of bed for the past month. hot damn it's a sexy dirty bitch of a song . . . lots of beautiful foreplay before thurston's release . . . (did i say that?) . . . okay. . . but yeah, sure . . . i doubt it's an all time favourite . . . mine would be the same as most others here . . . the obvious epics that encapsulate the youth's force. early shit basically. evol just kicks too much ass.

I can't believe I'm the first to say "Brother James"!
"Ghost Bitch" came close, and for that matter, "Justice is Might". |

It's hard to pick out ONE gem when you've got several chests of treasure filled to the brim...i could make a list of at least a dozen songs. then again, why bother...i just love this band too much...and wonder why tom violence is mentioned so seldom...when i first heard that song, i wanted to change my name...and yes, brother james would have to be on my list!

hi all, i must agree can't find favourite...prolly easier to look for the song i least like, however no queen blues was my first favourite sy song...too much good stuff to name just one cd let alone one song....goo's the cd i've def listend to most...another favourite of mine is Experimental Jet Set..... though lately been listening to rather ripped a lot and pink steam is a current favourite....but usually i don't just pick a song from an album i like the whole feel to it....

i'm with you there. when bad mp3s of the new record started appearing on the net, i was quite horrified about the reviews on this board. i remember people blaming s.y. for producing a commercial record because the members had families to feed...that's so gross. lee did an interview with a leftist berlin-based weekly called 'jungle world' just before their amazing berlin gig on sept. 16th where he talks about the new record using quite traditional song-structures and how implementing them was a radical step for them. but nothing that they planned. and notes the irony that their last record on a major album was their most 'pop' record. it's a really cool interview. i'll try to translate it and post it here or on my website. the record grows if you hear those songs live, but i loved the record before the show. it's such a great record. i listen to it all the time. (when i'm not listening to 'the destroyed room')
