jean pierre melville's second feature, based on jean cocteau's novel (cocteau also provides the narrator's voice). a competent movie--not damn good yet, but melville's hand is there--with a great screenplay. |

I expected this movie to be crap but I enjoyed it more than any other movie I've seen this year. Not including HP 5, because that shit is in a league of its own.

No, seriously, Ratatouille is a great movie. Aestetically (?) and technically (?) amazing and fun to watch. Glad you liked it, I feel less lonely on this damn board. ha ha.

I've seen that too. It certainly was a lovely film. Made me smile that's for sure.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNxebvMJ-1s. i also saw recently the amazing "Frank Film" - 9 minutes of the sound a man telling his autobiography in mundane tone entertwined with a track of the same man repeating objects beginning with the letter F that relate to what is going on in the autobiography. visually, it is accompanied by swirling collages of images cut from magazines that are relevant also to the autobiography. you can get it on youtube via UBUweb.

You, Me, and Dupree. On cable. I laughed a few times, but by the end it had totally jumped the shark.

This movie is on digital cable ALL THE TIME. It is kind of frustrating. With that said, it contained an absolutely hilarious visual gag that must rank among my favorites. The part when Kate Hudson is trying to reach something high on the shelf. Owen Wilson's eyes....hahahaha. That got me.
