you know, the whole neg rep thing wasn't such a big deal to me. I don't really log in much anymore. just kinda relating to Suchfriends problems in some weird way in the comething irrelevant thread. didn't think I was being a smart ass. just maybe some of this hip hop is not for you. it's not all for me either. bygone. now, do you know any good tuna salad recipes? |

ha ha ha ha yes. with red wine vinegar + olive oil add some cold white beans or lentils to it. you could do some green beans too in a pinch (no soaking) slice of tomato on the side. boiled potato on the side. some nice lettuce leaf. dammit i just remembered i have lettuce & tuna. was wondering what to eat for dinner. yeah, food is one of my things-- hiphop not so much ha ha thanks for clarifying |

hey, preciate it. it's what's for lunch for me tomorrow. just don't like making a sandwich in the morning. takes too long and if you make it the night before, it gets all soggy.
thanks. |

gots to have those eggs no doubt. btw, I love cut up grapes in my chicken salad. maybe in the future try that in the tuna too.
just got back from the grocery store. got to have some dill relish. you know. it'll do what I can with what you gave me. summertime means cruising the local farmers market. fun stuff. ha. this thread just took a detour. back on track now. |

no grapes in the tuna! try olives instead.
no mayo/no relish, but fresh dill would work. you don't wanna make a chopped up gringo paste/mush for this. what i'm saying is some sort of salade nicoise. that one has anchovies too. not sure if you ike them (i do) this is with white bean which is italian but works great with garbanzo too (in this case no potato--you have starch in bean) just pare down to the basic notion + rebuild at will. vivan los mongrels. |

indeed. and with a cold bone-dry rosé your day is made summer food rules Quote:
yep, that's the american tartar sauce-- goes with the deeply fried and yeah you didn't want a sammich so there's your alt-tunas. ps notice the bean version has chopped red onion. you can also use shallot. w/ the bean one you can work all day without fatigue. experiment & see what works. === WHO IS GONNA RAP ABOUT THIS? (cibo matto, probably) |

But yo!! Why hasn't there been any mention of Young Fathers in this thread?
I know it is/was a bit trendy, and I also know that it's not your average meat and potatoes hip-hop (kinda like Shabazz Palaces, only Young Fathers' "@2ends with every month that passes this album extends its dusty roots further into my brain stem. It's as hip-hop as Kanye's "Amazing", and seems to borrow just as much from slave work songs and bellowed African dirges. I guess I'm just wondering how it is that so deep into the year, this record has still failed to make an impression on the café. So... YOUNG FATHERS - WHITE MEN ARE BLACK MEN TOO! Totally worth your time! Check it now! Cheers! |

good. it is alive!!! I thought me and I !@#$%! on the first date killed this thread. glad to know it's not dead.
I thought I worshiped satan inherently, unbeknowns to me. somehow clueless to the impacts. killing everything in sight. |

Well, I may have been reaching with that statement. I just know that one of the things I love about "Amazing" is the worksong vibe. The phrasing of the verses, the vocal effects giving it sort of a dusty, traditional feel.. The sparse instrumentation and those fucking drum sound!!! Not to mention Young Jeezy's heave-ho grunts and shouts during the chorus. It's like it's timed to the rhythm of pick axes rising and being driven down into stones in unison. Young Fathers use a similar "slave song" dynamics, but the overall sound is more driving and urgent. Again, there's a sort of post-punk energy mixed in with the elements of soul and hip-hop and Blues. It's a really intense album, the overall effect is fresh and powerful. Right now I'm considering it one of the better albums of the year. I definitely think you should check it out. |

Ps: "Amazing" was my favorite Kanye song for a long time too. Now it's probably "Runaway", but "Amazing" is still probably at least in the top 10.
... Dammit, now I'm trying to think of how the rest of the list would look. This will probably eat up the rest of my day. Geez, thanks a lot fot that |
