During the BET Awards, Kendrick Lamar performed his To Pimp a Butterfly track "Alright" while standing on a vandalized police car. The performance was a talking point on the latest episode of the Fox News roundtable program "The Five", Stereogum reports. In short, the pundits were not fans of Lamar's lyrics or imagery, claiming his performance "incites violence". "This is why I say that hip-hop has done more damage to young African Americans than racism in recent years," said Geraldo Rivera.

Also worth noting—Eric Bolling's reading of the "wanna kill us dead in the street fo sho" line is extremely funny.

Rivera continued:

"This is exactly the wrong message. I'm kind of bummed about Iggy. Honestly I loved New Classic. I felt like she had so much promise. Then, by the end of the year she re-released the album in butchered form and has now seemed ok w/ relegating herself to being a one trick pony. Have y'all heard "Pretty Girls"? That shit's horrible. Like... I don't know who sabotaged who, but Iggy & Britney made the worst song of the year. But it is really a bummer. I mean, listen to the emotion she put into something like "Rolex," and then wonder how she got here.

ANYWAY - this new Vince Staples is OMG good. Like, same tier as Mr. Wonderful and B4DA$$ on first listen. Which is to say, really really f'ing great, but it's not At.Long.Last.A$AP for me. But, wow. So good. Like multiple times I caught myself w/ eyes wide open, jaw dropped, goosebumps just hanging off every word the dude dropped.

yeah, like I thought Hell Can Wait was excellent. But listening to this I'm like "ok, this dude really understands the album format" like how the whole thing feels like two definitive halves. And it flows so well. It's like a well-paced movie or something. Keeps you on the edge of yr seat.

but I don't think it's "wrong" to have liked The New Classic. It was a good album. It felt interesting. She seemed to have potential... it's just that since she dropped that album she's let the potential go unrealized.

But yes, you DO need Summer 06. It's for real. A defining album of 2015.
