I think these dates are better than the ones listed in the poll. I was born in 71 and am gen x. I've always argued that our gen is nothing like those born after about 78.

I have this chart that has these dates

Interbellum Generation (1900-1910)
G.I. Generation (1990-1924)
Greatest Generation (1911-1924)
Jazz Age (1918-1929)
Silent Generation (1925-1945)
Baby Boomers (1940s-1960s)
Beat Generation (1948-1962)
Generation Jones (1954-1962)
Consciousness Revolution (1964-1984)
Baby Busters (1958-1968)
Generation X (1963-1978)
MTV Generation (1974-1985)
Boomerang Generation (1977-1986)
Generation Y (1979-1986)
Internet Generation (1988-1999)
New Silent Generation (2000-?)

But those dates seem totally wrong to me.

Oddly enough, I was probably more interested about the original Gulf War as a child than Iraq as a teenager. Prob. cause all I did as a kid was watch TV...

I was a sophomore in highschool when 911 happened, thats when I started paying attention to politics...u know...until after george bush's reign made me realize that I was just watching star wars play out in real life minus the lightsabers. now i only care about star wars...what is politics?

I think that when people try to contextualize themselves too much they end up losing a big chunk of their potential, or they gain a little due to their lack of it.

They also risk becoming mega bores who feel like they have to account every experience that they go through to a communal way of thinking/doing things which ultimately amounts to no more than a simple variation of customs and day-to-day habits, more or less.

generations are twenty year intervals, and they are VAGUE as all fuck.

I was born in 1973, and between age 8 and 17 I watched MTV.
