well, i'm probably one of those people, i started getting into extreme metal stuff about 4 or 5 years ago because the heavier, darker end of the "indie" world seemed to die off at the end of the 90s. to be honest i don't really see the point of non-extreme metal. |

Yeah well, you're different. You're British and therefore intelligent. Its the non-British people i was really directing it at, especially the Dutch. |

my definition of metal is that it should be extreme for it's time.
as much as i have fun listening to poison, warrant, et al. i don't for the life of me consider them metal. |

It's surely only a matter of time. Manowar are ripe for a bit of ironic appropriation. If anything, I'm surprised it hasn't already happened. Maybe it has. Maybe there's a bar in Williamsburg right now that has a whole jukebox filled with Manowar.

Listen to you. I can positively smell your ironic hipster aura from here. Oh, and by the way. I absolutely agree! Lets open a bar in Brooklyn together! |

We could sell pabst to Free Kitten groupies, wearing spikey leather codpieces. We'd make the cover of Vice magazine and Nylon in no time.

You'll be playing the Old Blue Last in Hoxton too. Any chance of me coming in on the guest list?

i know a bar that has a manowar album in the jukebox. hipsters are starting to get into metal, but it seems to be only death and black metal with little doses of iron maiden thrown in. |

I'm non-british and fairly unintelligent and I feel the same way when it comes to metal. I just find that the more extreme something is the more genuine it seems. However, I'm always open to listening to a band if someone recommends it and I try to be as open-minded as possible when it comes to judging music. I understand what you're saying, though. It's like hipsters who won't listen to Death Cab because people have heard of them.

i was listening today to morbid angel-blessed are the sick. awesome album, but unfortunately the vocals are understandable and death metal lyrics are really lame
that's the good thing about bands like cryptopsy, even though the lyrics in the booklet are stupid as fuck... the vocalist isn't actually saying them the song phobophile is good, but i could never enjoy it if i could actually make out these lyrics In the kitchen With a screaming triple amputee... Its completion depends solely On my needs... Said amputee's stumps Are my way of saying... "Thank you Just for being you." Its fear tastes better than it's limbs. |

I've been listening to Ved Buens Ende's Written in Waters a lot lately. It's probably my favourite metal album.
