Okay, anyone own/use an EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress flanger? I found one for $99 and I can't decide if I want/need it. (It's an older molder with the hardwired cord). I already have a DOD Stereo Flanger.
Edit: Where's CHOUT at? I thought he had one...or something that looked like it. Edit #2: Okay, I've decided to trade my Squier Sidekick amp, a Randall footswitch, my Dano Comp, and my DOD Supra Distortion in on this thing. Edit #3: Store wasn't taking in anything new. Still got it for $90 no tax though. Sounds great.

BTW the HOG is one of the coolest guitar pedals ever invented.
I use it with the gray expression pedal that's pictured. I can play a chord and then hit down the expression pedal and either bend the whole chord up or down an octave. I can play a note and make it sustain forever and then play over it. It does so many cool things. |

they do and they don't... overall they are up there probably one of the few mass produced manufacturers to come close to some of the boutique/custom pedals made now. i don't like the little big muff or the american big muff reissue they actually didn't work well with my guitar/amp setup, they sounded way too muddy and way overloaded all my guitars are humbuckers and i use a very clean twin reverb but the russian reissues i love, and mod them and make them true-bypass, they have a nice awesome gritty tone. i have a hot tubes (not the vintage one without the 12AX7s) overdrive/distortion which is super loud, probably the loudest pedal i have ever used (can't crank it past 10'oclock or else it will destroy your face) i use it as a backup to my 80's RAT... Deluxe Memory man is a very nice analog delay but to my ears it colors my tone and is slightly noisey even though its wired w/ a relay to be true-bypass, i've modded mine with a toggle switch doubling the delay time from 550 msec to 1100msec (although it has some weird digital hiss the increase delay time is really nice), and added another switch which addes more variable speed to the vibrato. the negative is that these things are soo big and clunky and i don't prefer big pedal boards or long chains (i actually don't like pedal boards and prefer not to use more than 5 effects boxes in my chain at any given time) A Small Stone which is probably my favorite phaser (an effect i rarely use any more though) mine has been modded to also do vibrato, at a high intensity and with the added color this thing produces some of the craziest sounds that can be imagined froma phaseshifter, i prefer it over the mxr phase 90 which i was using for years. thats all the ehx pedals i use or have used... |

I like the Little Big Muff with my Bassman, but I'd agree that the green Russian's are a bit better.
They're coming out with a new Bass Big Muff. It's a Russian Muff with improved bass response, and a 3 way switch. The first mode is normal circuit, the second mode is bass boosted, and the 3rd mode is normal with some clean mixed in, which IMO sounds very useful. They're coming out in a few weeks for the same price as the Little Big Muff, I think I'm going to get one. As for my other EHX pedals- The HOG is fucking awesome. You can do a ton of crazy shit with it. The Clone Theory is a little noisy, but I like the way it sounds. My only problem is that it is a bit thin and bright sounding. Stereo Pulsar is a little noisy. I have it before gain, and you can hear the clock noise. Also it doesn't seem to have a lot of headroom, which is irritating, but not a huge problem. Maybe when I get a better power supply and cables the situation will improve. The Frequency Analyzer is wonderful. The Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai is a really cool pedal. It could use some improvements though. It's predecessor had an optional controller pedal that made using it live a lot easier. Also in loop mode, balancing the loop volume against the clean volume is a bit of a bitch. But overall it is a very cool pedal that makes up for those things in other ways. The Polyphase is cool. 3 ways of controlling the phase- your traditional wave (you can do normal or square wave), envelope (the phase gets swept harder the harder you play), and expression pedal/CV. My complaints- no expression for LFO speed, and the phase could be way thicker sounding. Sounds better with my synth than with my guitar. |

a friend of mine is going to the states and claims that he owes me a few years worth of b-day presents, so he said i have 200$ for him to spend on me there.
so i am thinking of asking him to get me a looper. whats a good one for like 150$ i looked at the boss looper of the internet and it looks decent any thoughts?

the loop station? there are 2 different models one is a standard compact boss size that is newer don't know much about it but i'd guess that it would be kinda a bitch to work with as i would imagine its one of those press and hold to record types... the other older model is the more expensive i think and has two foot switches one to record the other to loop? seems abit more user friendly around here its about $250 US the newer compact version is around $160? don't know exactly the amount of record time but i think its pretty long... as far as loopers/samplers my fav also include delay effects like the Digitech PDSs... i had an echo plus pds 8000 before it started to die fizz out and i sold it on ebay because it was too costly to fix the hard to find chips and caps. but what a great unit! 8 seconds of delay and sampling capability and the nice warm-like sound of an analog delay, these units are rare and no longer made and are pretty pricey these days. I currently have the PDS 1002 2 second delay/sampler as i mentioned previously which i've had for years and is pretty awesome though the output volume on the sample when using a hotter input signal (usually a distortion) sounds quieter than input distion signal and just running clean through it, yields equal volume as the input signal but its something i can still work with. i just bought a used Boss DSD-3 digital sampler/delay, which is ok and not too difficult to use but also not really that user friendly in versatility. these are obsolete units also and were last produced in the late 80's? decent delay time for a unit of its time (50 ms to 800 ms) but the sample is short, 200 to 800 ms. its nice that the sample time can be manipulated though which gives you crazy pitch changes. the delay is nice and not too digital... more analog-esque than the more recent than the DD-x series, the DD-3 which its most similar to except for the sample function where as the dd-3 has a hold. i only wish it had more self-oscillation when the feedback is on full like on alot of analog units. maybe at some point i'll open it to see what kinda mod capabilities it has. |
