watched this last night
liked it. not great, but it was a fun flick. 8/10. I would put it up there along the Crow as a decent comic adaptation, even though the Crow comics themselves are so fucking sappy and melodramatic and ugly drawn.

An 8/10 is "Not great"? Does that mean a 5/10 wouldn't be "average" either?
All kidding aside, Kick-Ass rocked. And the Crow was good, if you like the wrestler Sting, and films that looked like they were filmed inside of a toilet, or the original Game Boy. |

The Crow was an 8/10 movie, just like Kick Ass.
Great is 10/10. 5/10 is mediocrity pure and simple.

The Crow had to look like it was filmed inside a toilet. that was the world he inhabited and fought in.
Kick Ass was good, real good, don't get me wrong, but it was about 20 minutes too long.

No, I agree, but you said "not great" and then "8/10". Most people would probably think 8/10 = great. Just having fun with ya.

I will definitely watch Kick Ass again though.
I know you've mentioned how you liked it better than the last Batman flick. to me that movie, for all it's supposed "flaws" (which are really just film nitpicks created because the source material is comic books, and the film is very true to the comic book way of plot propulsion, i.e. not knowing HOW the Joker planned and prepared all his incredibly super-complex schemes. In the comics it is taken for granted that a maniacal homocidal psycopath witll do anything and everything to achieve his plans. In films, the audience has to be shown every single thing, or else it "does not exist" in their minds, because audiences are stupid sheep) is the perfect comic book adaptation. You know how Fear & Loathing in Las vegas was not a super faithful adaptation of the book, but nonetheless managed to make you feel exactly what the book makes you feel at many different times and with equal intensity? That is what the last Batman did for me. Batman was my FAVORITE comic book growing up. Kick Ass, since I have not read the book, I have to treat as just a movie. I will definitely place it among the top echelon of comic book films (spiderman 2, the first Michael Keaton batman, the two Nolan Batmans, the Crow, Blade, the Watchmen)

I've never seen any of the RE movies. They don't seem to have anything to do with the games, other than using the Umbrella Corporation concept.

Mother wanted me to see that picture with her. I asked myself 'what would sammy davis junior do?' and determined that he would refuse, so I did the same.
A man with a mustache as sleek as mine cannot afford to stain it with tears brought about by a movie for ladies. I cried during free willy 2 and that, my sonic gossipers, was enough movie related tears for this man. |
