Ike Turner's guitar playing kicks the combined asses of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Link Wray, et al. Extremely underrated. One of many examples. Real rockabilly feel to it: http://www.zshare.net/download/6194695761b04e5d/
My favorite guitar tone: Pop Staples of the Staples Singers on their really early records from the Vee-Jay label. (quality doesn't do it justice, but: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhtgZKC9tts) Especially on their version of Uncloudy Day. |

Otis Redding does nothing to me. I don't get the praise, I much prefer Curtis Mayfield for instance.

Status Quo's best producer was themselves; Pip Williams' productions are a travesty.

I'd kinda agree... fugazi has one great album (the argument). I think 13 songs is terrible.

13 songs is their only album that i still LOVE
it was one of those albums that changed everything for me. repeater is great as well. steady diet and red medicine arent as great.

I don't think 13 Songs is terrible, but it's certainly their weakest (yes, I even like SDoN better.)

I think every album they did was better than the one before it.

Bright Eyes is whiny shit for someone that is not in need of anything.
Elliot Smith's first album is the only one worth any count. Cat Power hasn't made good record since moon pix. ''Blame It'' by Jamie Fox is a good pop song. |

This is by far the best band nu-metal ever spawned (though I dunno if I'd call 'em "numetal" necessarily):
