Yeah it's one of many takes on Lovecraft's The Shadow Of Innsmouth story. I thought they did a great job.

^One of the best films of all time!
Guess what, Joe? I think all the overburning DC games fucked up my cd burner. It won't burn cd's anymore -- it'll burn dvd's still though!! (cd and dvd lasers are two different things) I have an AMAZING cd/dvd burner that will burn cd/dvd/playstation games/etc... but guess what? It won't burn Dreamcast games! The thing is, there's firmware that OVERRIDES the discjuggler thing. Flat-out, even if I set it to 16x (the lowest it'll go! no 4x here!), it goes fucking 52x or something the whole time! Luckily, I have a 10 year old cd burner I've burnt probably 2058202085 cd's on, at my grandpa's house, thaT I'm not using for anything. Gonna have to hook it up and get back to burning DC titles. See, the thing is, DC games have really complex structures, that's why you have to burn 4X, and that's why there's so many problems, even from a lot of people who do get it to burn successfully. The funny thing is, I burnt a few PSX games as a test, and they seemed to play better than ever -- seemed like there was less loading than ever, if that's possible. And I burned those suckers at 52x! So, unless I can find some way to permanently slow my burner down when using discjuggler -- which I can't seem to find -- I'll just have to use a shitty cd-r-only -burner. Which actually might be better to use anyway. Just a warning, though -- I've read various online reports that overburning Dreamcast games (and, y'know, nearly every game I burnt was well over 700mb, many at 798-803mb!) will fuck up your laser. |

Love the Hall Monitor..
Touch Me in the Morning is an easy 10/10. BTW, FN, it was filmed in Florida, so you might recognize some spots! |

I rarely have to overburn games. Not even Code Veronica required it. The files I get are pretty small. My DiscJuggler stays around 9x the whole time too... are you using the trial? It automatically burns at the lowest speed possible. My games usually work every time. But then again, I use a different site than you.

No offense, but did you not actually read anything I just wrote? Or do you just not understand? If a game is over 700mb, you are "overburning" it. Unless you're going out of your way to download those super shitty compressed rips where people remove cinemas and stuff -- which you're probably not, so hear me out: A Cd-r holds 700mb (they also make 99-minute and 120-minute CD-R's, but many burners won't support them. HOWEVER, one of the biggest things that people burn to them is -- get this -- Dreamcast games!). It has nothing to do with the cdi files, or where they're downloaded from -- and I've downloaded them from dscisozone, torrents, etc and had no problem -- an overburnt game -- or anything that's overburnt -- puts extra stress on your lazer. I am using an old laptop I got off a friend and he burnt 10,000 cd's on this thing. The overburning of the Dreamcast games is what put the final nail in the coffin. The separate DVD laser works great -- the CD burning laser is DEAD. It would've failed no matter what, eventually, but the overburnt DC games is what killed it, officially.
My other burner is a Lite-On -- and it burns too fast, since the DC is 12 years old, and it simply cannot play games that are burned quickly, because of the complex structure of Dreamcast discs. The Lite-On has a firmware which overrides Discjuggler's settings, NO MATTER WHAT. I'm using the trial -- but most EXTERNAL burners have firmware installed that overrides settings like that; even my crappy old burner that failed was going 8x, with the trial Discjuggler supposedly only "letting" it go 4x and with me purposely setting it lower (you're supposed to burn DC games at 1x!). Because of the firmware, I am automatically going 40-52x at all times, even if I try to slow it down. There's no way to slow it down, and Discjuggler's settings fuck with it to the point where it's constantly struggling between speeds. But in the end, the firmware wins. I've already burnt about 75 games a week, so it's no big loss, I'm going to burn the last few I need with a 10 year old CD burner I have that I'm not using for anything else. Another idea I have, though, is to convert the CDIs to NRG files and burn with Nero -- I've burnt PS1 and PS2 games today with the burner that won't burn the DC games properly, and they work GREAT! So, I think it has more to do with the firmware and Discjuggler's settings "fighting" each other. |

Yeah, I understood you. I never have to overburn though. My files are usually just under 700mb. I don't have crazy firmware either. I guess I lucked out. The only game I can think of that required me to overburn was Rainbow Cotton, because of all the anime segments. Maybe Grandia II. I smoked too much Grape Ape to remember right now.

My Elemental Gimmick Gear is 742mb. My Mars Matrix is 739mb. My Marvel vs Capcom 2 was like 795mb. Bangai-O is 785mb. Haven't you burnt -- or tried to burn -- all those?
If you are somehow downloading under-700mb rips for all thee games, you must be getting wildly compressed versions of them (I do remember trying to download Space Channel 5, but I saw someone say that they had to make all the music and sound 22,000kilohertz instead of 48,000 -- this wouldn't bother me except that the music/sound is the game). Which doesn't bother me too bad -- I just want to play the game afterall -- but I guess that's probably a good way to go about not fucking up a laser. |

Yeah, I actually am reading up on it now and I was right... just about every DC burning tutorial reccomends that you should buy 99 minute CD-R's specifically for burning since a lot of lasers have been fucked up specifically from this. Hah! Oh well.

My EGG is 724MB, and my Mars Matrix is 708MB. That's funny because I didn't overburn for either disc. I always burn it in Mode 2, and make sure that I RAW write it (not sure what that means) every time. Maybe that has something to do with it? But I swear I never had to overburn those. I'm not retarded lol, I understand the concept of a 700MB size limit. Hmmm...
That sucks about your burner though. My DVD laser stopped working for a day or 2, but it eventually started up again. Maybe yours will do the same. If not, at least you've got that back-up. |

Anything over 700mb is overburning! It's probably not DANGEROUSLY overburning, like 795mb or something, which is why you don't have to give it special permission, but yeah... and like I said, when I've overburnt probably 60 of the 75 games, technically, well, I guess it's my own stupidity, since it's an older burner. Oh well. It'll eventually happen to anyone who burns enough stuff, that's why they reccomend 99 minute cd-r's.

Technically, you're right. But if it doesn't ask me for permission (spare a few titles) I don't really bother considering it as such.

OH, HEY, I got it to work! I just had to use bootdreams cd-i image burner -- it goes 8x when I tell it to instead of jumping from, like, 0.4x to 52x to 36x to 11x in the course of 3 seconds like DiscJuggler.
Playing Cosmic Smash right now, works great. |
