i'm eating ICE CREAM
i made it myself with this recipe: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...am-recipe.html it's an awesome recipe because with 6 egg yolks it's just so smooth velvety creamy and ZERO ice crystals (a frequent problem with homemade ice cream). ben & jerry have nothing on me now. for the flavor i added lúcuma, which... it's hard to explain what kind of fruit it is but the ice cream is DELICIOUS that's not my photo but those are lúcumas |

Can be either sorby or creamy, SE Asian, ask for it in a Vietnamese or Thai place. It's a gigantic spiny fruit with an acquired taste. I like it, wife hates it

haven't eaten this yet but just finished "cooking" a green tea ice cream.
the custard is cooling now and will go into the machine this afternoon. this is as exciting for me as the new horizons approach to pluto was for NASA. |

yesterday there was a leftover half can of beer (accidentally forgotten) so instead of throwing it away i made a beer granita with salt, pepper, and olive oil
it was a good first experiment and some things were learned the olive oil floated in the top but it was tasty by itself the next beer granita i'm making with lime juice. i'm also adding lots more salt. |

moving is stressful, so i went down to the local walrats and stocked up on stress foods. stuff such as:
-cream + milk (to make ice cream) -cheeses (cheddar, chihuahua) -corn + flour tortillas -tortilla chips -bacon -sliced white bread (buttermilk, potato) -spam (lite) -nutella -hot sauce -sliced ham -sliced salami -pickles -white sugar -flavored bubbly water cans -other trash food i can't remember but must either have intense flavors or enable them. salt/sugar/fat. $80 worth of junk food should help us brave the moving month. moving is the worst, even when you try to avoid it. $80 goes a very long way at walrats. i should have bought solo cups + paper plates. nothing like enviro-rape to reduce housework. naaaaah... just eat directly out of the cans/bags/packets. |

that's how i've been eating lately and there's no room in the fridge between five of us. tortillas, rice. i fried an egg tonight over basmati rice with soy chorizo and an avocado. it made up for the pizza and work food i ate, i guess.
