Rad! I checked on Amazon UK and they have that poster for 27x40 so I might buy it and line it up next to my Hana-Bi one.

On my wall are posters of Hana-Bi, John Coltrane, a collage I did, a poster that came with a Dylan Nyoukis LP, a drawing Genteel Death did for me and a picture of a kitty heheh. I don't have any space for posters though really because my room is terribly small.

Yeah I'm going to put your thing in a frame. I have tons and tons of drawings -- my favorites are yours and one from Giuseppe -- I'm going to frame and post on my wall.

Whenever I get my own place, I'm going to have a room that is nothing but friends' drawings. I'm going to have everyone come over and draw something and I'm going to frame it. And any net friends can send me stuff, too!

Have you seen Zachariah? That's fairly out there. Also, Johnny Guitar is a definite must see for anyone who don't usually like Hollywood Westerns. It feels like a kind of Fellini/Bava/Fassbinder/Sirk take on the genre.

Personally I don't think Hollywood ever got any better than with its classic westerns. The Searchers, Stagecoach, Winchester '73, My Darling Clementine, High Noon, Shane, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, some of the greatest art America has produced, never mind movies.

Word. I need to check out some of those films then, man. I like the idea of western art definitely.

There's nothing wrong with the more off beat westerns but the problem with most examples I've seen is that that's generally all they are. Meanwhile, you could spend an entire lifetime with a film as supposedly conventional as My Darling Clementine and still never exhaust it. I've met plenty of people who've said they just don't like or haven't seen any John Ford westerns but I've never met anyone who's said they've outgrown them.

I liked Hana-Bi, but didn't fall in love with it. I know Ishii is a big fan of this one, and I can't get enough of Ishii's stuff, so hopefully I'll be able to take more from this film. I really wanna get what the big deal is with Beat's work.

I forgot to mention earlier that I also saw Hobo with a Shotgun...I had to watch it On Demand because no theaters in PA are showing it. After seeing it, I can see why. It didn't suck or anything like that, but it's easily one of the most over the top movies I've ever seen; gore galore, children being brutally murdered and STRONG implications of pedophilia, glorified coke use, plus black humor out the wazoo. I liked Machete too, but I gotta say the producers of Hobo with a Shotgun nailed the Grindhouse aesthetic a lot more than that one did...

Indeed, Shawshank Redemption is flawless.

Broken Wings

An Israeli film. Really good too.

9/10

I love Wes. I love Luke and his random love for a hotel maid. Owen is always hilarious when playing oblivious.

The Devil Rides Out (9/10)

If The Wicker Man is the greatest British horror film ever made, then The Devil Rides Out is easily the most quintessentially 'English'. A horror film where more tea is spilt than blood. Hammer at its absolute best.
