The Mars Volta? Sucking? Nooooooooo
I Love music that creates a strong sense of image, time and place. I get this in a big way with 'Delused' and 'Frances the Mute'. You put your headphones and you can be right there on the outskirts of El Paso in the middle of an acid trip. I can understand why people might not like The Mars Volta. The first time I listened to them I thought they were overblown and their music was too chaotic. But I suppose its like Sonic Youth...searching for the beauty in the middle of all that chaos. I explain this in relation of SY here: http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...692#post308692

My brother loves spart and masr volta
I find mars volta to bee overemphasizing the bombast and that gets on my nerves a bit. way way better than my chemical romance though

I actually don't mind the first 2 My Chemical Romance albums (its unusual cause usually thats not my kinda thing). The last one as we probebly all agree was terrible. 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge' and 'I Brought you my Bullets' have this genuine feeling off a band about to come off the rails.
I know this is an unpopular music opinion...

Ok, for the record I like Mars Volta quite a bit.
And the majority of my favorite music came out in the 80s. There is ALWAYS good underground, and there was great stuff in the 80s. There just was very limited good mainstream music, like there is now. That's the point I was trying to make. There have been lots of nirvanas. They aren't the only one. Throughout the history of rock music there have been good bands in the mainstream. But there aren't now. I believe it's because mainstream music serves no purpose now but to make a buck and brainwash the youth into buying ipods. Everyone who really cares about the music is on the internet for free. Edit: Big Black does fucking rule.

Fuck my chemical romance... The Mars Volta slay, but Amputechture was kinda weak in some areas... Cool album, though.

Totally agree.. "trance is th emotion" by static-x is a great song. Sounds like a retarded auctioner doing Ministry parodies.. but it's good! And they sampled the movie "Begotten" for a song. And KoRn had some of the weirdest guitar sounds ever on the early recordings.. great shit! |
