Yr paying for a DOOM show, not a Daniel Dumile show. DOOM is a character not a real person.

you are correct. UNEXPECTED GUESTS was a bit of a letdown for me. It's not BAD or anything, but honestly, I doubt that DOOM compiled it himself. I feel like I should have been in charge of the tracklist.

I recently picked up the herbs box set. I came across it at the record store had and read that it was limited to 7500 copies so I nabbed it. Does it contain all of the beats on all of the special herbs releases? the way the description was worded made it seem like it only had selected beats from all of them.

don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure it's all of them. BUT please note, that the tracks are mixed together, and shortened, and in some cases slightly remixed. I actually prefer listening to the individual albums separately. Probably because I bought each one as they came out and was already used to hearing them on their own...

That's what I figured; that it contained most if not all of them albeit shortened. I'll probably still get all of the individual ones since I'm a fucking completists. I think I figured out which ones to get with the tracklisying overlapping in a lot of them.

9 + 0 is my favorite. It's actually amazing. It's one of my favorite Doom releases ever. After that, 5 & 6 is great. And 7 & 8. But get all of them.

Wait, so what exactly is the deal with DOOM having shows with other emcees wearing the mask? That shit's lame. I don't care how you try to sugarcoat it.
He's NOT the fucking Residents. He's NOT truly anonymous, and one of the best things about him is his voice. |

meh. I'm kind of done debating the whole thing. Here's the short version: if you buy tix to a DOOM show, you probably won't see DOOM. If yr okay with that then buy the tix. If yr not, then don't.

Man, that was awesome. So many pissed off people. Supervillain did his job damn well tonight. After the awful opener finished around 9:45 or so, we had to wait close to 3 hours for DOOM to come out. They'd send someone on stage periodically to say shit like "his plane just landed" or "he'll be out in 15 (an hour before he went on)" and so on. Then when he finally came out after so many people walked out all pissed off, it was a DOOMposter for the first few minutes. Then the real (and yes I'm sure it was the real one) DOOM came out. He dominated the mic for a solid 20 minutes without taking a break, then he got some water. Went at it again for 2 songs. Then had "technical difficulties". Him and his hype man pretended they wanted to keep the crowd entertained while the DJ fixed his shit (when clearly nothing was broken). Finally everything was 'working' again, and he did one song then walked off. 15 minutes later he came back, did one last some and it was over.
So many people were pissed off. It was done so perfectly. People getting pissed is part of a DOOM show I think. The atmosphere, the rage, the drunk/high idiocy. I wouldn't have traded a minute of that show to be anywhere else in the world

^this is what I was getting at. For vulv, it was money well spent. At this point, we should all know what to expect from a DOOM show. So spend (or don't) yr ticket money accordingly.

Yeah, I mean I fully get why people were pissed. Most people are casual fans at best, or even huge fans of the music but won't look past that. Every post I've made in this thread was serious. I was really excited about seeing what would happen. I didn't really care much to just hear him duplicate what I've heard on record before anyways. Truth be told, live hip hop can be really boring when it's done spot on.
This, however, was an experience. Not something I'll easily forget. (Also, people whining about him taking so long to get on stage are such babies. GZA took just as long when I saw him 2 years back.)

I get it, he's a "villain". But that's just fucking stupid. I would be so pissed if I paid good money to see him, and he never showed up or faked technical difficulties in the middle of his set. Who does he think he is, Andy Kaufman?
I've heard the impostor thing before, but I thought it was just a one time deal. I've heard complaints at his shows that he doesn't move enough, because he's so focused on getting in every syllable...I wouldn't mind that at all. To see some of his verses in person would be breathtaking. Do the impostors lip sync to pre-recorded tracks or do you have to hear their shitty voices? |

I think that's the vibe he's going for. But think about it. If you had bee duped by Andy Kaufman, you'd be bragging about it. Not pissed.
