actually my footprint is relatively low, I can afford it I will mos def cut out red meat further, as meat and watering the lawn consumes the most american water

i'd really rather not. It is the one thing i struggle to save.
I'm sure it would not be pretty.

we are not allowed and haven't been for years. You get a letter then a fine and they can physically restrict your water after that. There are a couple(lit) of set hours a week you can water other garden parts depending on house numbers and so on.
There is less than 18 months supply left in our water res and it has been raining less and less each year.

its not as bad now as it seemed when it first started. You kind of get used to it and people change their gardens to suit and so on.
Less baths is the most difficult one

have you ever seen that national geographic picture of phoenix? it's amazing. i'm going to try to dig it up. they actually do a lot of rock yards and stuff there.. which is not apparent in this picture.

i cannot find it. i saw it in print. it's really amazing. it shows lush, green phoenix with a very, very distinctive border... and on the other side is just barren desert.... illustrating how phoenix should look and how much water they are obviously using.

ironically there are municipal laws/code enforcement that legally obligate people to water their lawns or face fines/penalties. A household in Orange County is facing time in the county jail for failure to comply with an ordinace which required a certain percentage of grass coverage on front/street adjacent lawns after they tore up their lawn and replaced it with a suburban Vegas style drought tolerant landscape. California is so fucking insanely backwards and corrupt sometimes I swear I live in Nigeria!
