I'm not going to Shellac because I can't get a ride downtown tonight.
I missed Dinosaur Jr. last year for the same reason. |

I just decided to go carless for an undetermined length of time. I'm into it.

Public transportation blows in PA. Bus fare would cost more than the show, and I wouldn't be able to get a ride back until the next day.
Face it, I'm fucked, no Shellac for me. |

25ish miles. I've never walked more than I'd say 5 miles.

I'd probably die riding a bike.
Oh well, hopefully the new Shellac album blows. Then I won't feel bad. Soooooo. . . Joe Lally is coming in a few weeks. What's his solo stuff like? Would I as a Fugazi fan like it? Is it worth getting excited for and then probably not going? I'm so fricking glad I got a ride for SY last week. |

There are industrial trains that go through my tiny town of pennsylvania, and I've always sort of wanted to jump on one and see where it takes me, but no, we don't have a train or subway system. Kids in suburbia are stuck in suburbia out here. My parents used to live in California and they told me about taking trains to San Francisco from the suburbs. Damn nice system. There is a really huge booming as hell suburb a bit south of me called Cranberry, it has 3 starbucks, a target, a super-walmart, costco, you name it. God-awful hellhole. It would be a huge boom to Pittsburgh's economy to have a train between the two fucking places, but no office holders in Pennsylvania really know what to do. Education and Transportation keep getting budget cuts in PA. The PAT Bus system has suffered, the library system has suffered. We still do have pretty highly paid teachers, meaning the kids get smart enough to figure out there are better states than Pennsylvania to live in. And Pittsburgh keeps getting dipshit mayors that come up with dipshit ideas to make the city prosperous once again. |
