They were great! It was the first stop on their tour for the new album, so I was worried that they might not have had all the songs ready to go yet, but the whole set sounded really fantastic. They joked a lot about how it was the very first time a lot of the songs had ever been played live. I haven't heard any of the new album though, so I was there for the classics, and there were plenty. They played Doe, Saints, Iris, Cannonball (of course!), Divine Hammer (my favorite song of theirs), their great cover of Happiness is a Warm Gun, and some others. I was particularly impressed with how great Kim and Kelly's voices still sound. Anyway, it was a really good show, and the Deal sisters seemed to be having a lot fun.
Here's some pictures my friend took for his website: |

I fucking love Kim Deal, and I fucking love what she did when she was with the Pixies, and I fucking love Pod.
I haven't cared much for anything she's done since, unfortunately.

New album is phenomenal. But if you want another Last Splash (or even Title TK), you will be disappointed. If you want something that feels personal, arty (yet totally lacking pretense), experimental and groovy for a late night chill session, this is the album for you. Kim's dedication to *not* sounding overproduced, *not* sounding like she's trying too hard, etc., can be a lot for some people to stomach, but if you get it you get it, and that's all she cares about. My favorites are "Night of Joy," "Spark," "Walk it off," but they're all great, and the track order and "calculated randomness" (Walk it off followed by Regalame esta noche and then Here no more)?--brilliant.

What? NO ONE wants another Last Splash or Title TK. The only thing the Breeders have done that's decent is the overrated "Pod". This new album is terrible, it has like 2 okay songs, it sounds like a joke. Glad you like it, but wow it's bad. If you really like it, I dare you to listen to the second track on repeat for an hour.
