And why does she look like this?
Looks like an ad to fight the opioids addiction or something.

From what I've gathered about her: she's eighteen years old, she makes dark electropop with her brother, she's phenomenally successful already, and she pisses so many old people off that I can't help but support her.

The way she looks reminds me a lot of Cantankerous, the former enigmatic boardie (and compulsive liar)
I like some of Billie's music, though. She's some of the better things current pop scene has to offer.

I asked my 17yo daughter if she was Lorde with a dirge-ier monicker?
A unique sound, no doubt she doing it her way! |

She’s a pop star who has just rocketed into major success over the past three years. I couldn’t really tell you about her music, other than that it mixes pop and alternative elements to cover some of that sweet, sweet crossover space, but I have watched her interview with Vanity Fair. She’s done one a year for a total of 3, chronicling her rise and her feelings about it.
On one hand, it’s compelling. On the other hand, I feel terrible for her. I hear a deep sadness in her voice, and it troubles me a bit. Can’t help but worry about all that our culture forces on younger and younger kids. Music seems to be a moderately inoffensive mix of various nothings, perfect to hook those teens. Can’t believe how much people hate her. Also can’t believe how much people love her. |

she is barely (if) 18 years old, and has been groomed by her older brother ( a failed wanna be rock star) to sing songs about liking rough sex from an asshole when she was 16 years old.
White shirt now red, my bloody nose Sleeping, you're on your tippy toes Creeping around like no one knows Think you're so criminal Bruises, on both my knees for you Don't say thank you or please I do what I want when I'm wanting to My soul? So cynical So you're a tough guy Like it really rough guy Just can't get enough guy Chest always so puffed guy I'm that bad type Make your mama sad type Make your girlfriend mad tight Might seduce your dad type I'm the bad guy, duh I'm the bad guy I like it when you take control Even if you know that you don't Own me, I'll let you play the role I'll be your animal My mommy likes to sing along with me But she won't sing this song If she reads all the lyrics She'll pity the men I know So you're a tough guy Like it really rough guy Just can't get enough guy Chest always so puffed guy I'm that bad type Make your mama sad type Make your girlfriend mad tight Might seduce your dad type I'm the bad guy, duh I'm the bad guy, duh I'm only good at being bad, bad I like when you get mad I guess I'm pretty glad that you're alone You said she's scared of me? I mean, I don't see what she sees But maybe it's 'cause I'm wearing your cologne

Bad Guy was a great single though. Someone pointed out that the chorus just sounds like crash bandicoot music. Which is no bad thing, mind.
Agreed with Rob that her brother is total creep. Look up pictures of his girlfriend. She looks EXACTLY the same as Billie. Cos I'm nice.

Yeah, it’s sad and stuff that an 18-year-old is already getting the piss taken out of her by toxic fanboys everywhere. It’ll be sad when pop culture harvests her for her inevitable decline. But I think you’re getting a little too worked up about it. I mean, this is pop music. This is how it works. Not sure how this is any different from Britney Spears, except for the music is a bit better. Not that big a deal really. Or, as the kids say, “It’s not that deep bro.” |

I don't remember the last pop star that recorded an album in their bedroom and got that big. I haven't heard a single bit of this music but I already like her better than all those others. And the fact that she doesn't seem to use overt sex appeal is better still. I'm sure when I do hear the music that I won't think it's that great but I'm also pretty sure that I like it better than I like Taylor Swift or Beyonce or something.

She's winning herself friends - Thom Yorke's a fan (he only found out when he had to take his teen daughter to her show though), and Michael Gira apparently called her "not terrible".

This thread reminded me that I only vaguely knew who she is. Some of her songs are not bad at all. Certainly nothing new or groundbreaking, but pleasant nonetheless.

no one said she was deep. she is literally singing about underage fucking with someone who likes it rough. it sucked when Britney did it too.
