hi i need a wah wah pedal.should be good and cheap.
by the way what kind of effect do you ned to play r.e.ms crush with a eyeliner? was this also done with a wah wah? for example is this one good: Dunlop Cry Baby 535Q (http://www.dooyoo.de/pa-equipment/ji...y-535q/795033/) costs 150 euro almost to expensive but if its good.... 2question for all the nirvana fraks out there, who have the live at reading dvd wich was realesed a few weeks ago: does kurt anything else use than a clean/destorted switch and a wah ?or is this all you basiclly need.think there was this part in been a soon where are no lyrics and the guitar was a little bit louder and he play the mainriff as bevore in the chorus , so i thought there might be something like a "power up" switch.however. what else is a must have for noisy experiences? THANKS |

The Wah pedals recently put out by Ernie-Ball are getting rave reviews at the moment. They tend to go for around $150, which isn't cheap but they're worth looking at at least.

it is somewhat an oxymoron, typically you will not find a good cheap pedal of any sort, and by good what do you mean? good sounding, good as in reliable, good design and ease of use and so on... Dunlop makes decent wahs i don't know about the ernie balls... vox also (but these aren't really cheap) and then there is Morley... ferget about Mu-Tron (haha!!!) those r super rare.
i personally don't like wah (because i find that i'm unusually uncoordinated to play and simultaneausly rock on my foot to interact a good wah sound) so i can't help you much... in the second part of your question you it sounds like you are referring to a Booster pedal which primarily increases your volume output, with perhaps a slight edge (or overdrive pending on the booster and its settings) used primarily on solos. I don't believe Cobain ever used a Booster, he initially used a Boss DS-1 (a cheap crappy pedal in stock form) then a Boss DS-2 and i think some sort of Tech21 distortion. some research and web searches and you find his effects setup...

There are plenty of good cheap pedals. Mostly distortions, but there are a few others. Most wahs need to be modded to be any good. But they're pretty cheap to mod. |

Kurt Cobain didn't use Wah. He used distortion and chorus. That's it. On some of the more sickening In Utero songs it is an EHX Polychorus. On Nevermind it's just an EHX Small Clone.
As far as distortion, he used a ton of different stuff in recording. Live he used a DS-1 and a Sansamp, but between In Utero and Nevermind, I'm sure he used a Big Muff, a Harmonic Percolator, and whatever other gear the studio had. Plus just amp distortion. |
