Hooker is a Category 5 hurricane to Barnes' breezy day (not that I don't like Barnes' playing, just the opposite); I'm a guy who likes variations in weather. |

yes of course, I love hookers work on all live recordings he did with lee, and I am sure he will put another texture in the context of the text of light experience

wow.
really happening set, as I expected, some of the heaviest and densest pieces I've heard ToL pull together, extremely pleasing and ecstatically overwhelming. It was awesome to hear William Hooker play with them again. but where the hell was everybody? sorry state of affairs if the locals think "oh, I saw ToL, I've done that". Its a new set everytime some nights I just LOVE my DAT, last night was one of them, when I turned it on at the gig I saw the batteries were at 1/2. My rule is to change them at that point but I forgot to bring backup. I didn't think I'd get an hour out of it but I did! |

I really liked the ending of Nancy Garcia's set, with that creepy film loop of the girl climbing in through an open window. Actually, all the rest of the set was excellent as well- the spider, the imploding buildings, the stuffed shark, and the rest of it. Wish the projection screen was larger though.
Wish MoMA was doing an audio/visual live concert series for Looking at Music like they did for Jazz Score earlier this year. Missed opportunity I think. |
