I got my first john cale solo record this week and I love it. It's Sabotage, it came out around 77.The record has some great unexpected diversity to it. I mean being part of the VU I'd expect songs like "mercenary" and "sabotage", ,but I was happily surprised with the catchy "dr.mudd" (that coulda been a hit with the right promotion). Also I lvoe that sweet ballad "only time will tell", whos the girl singing on that? So what are your favorite John Cale albums? Do you think his solo career surpasses Lou's?

Fear is my favorite.
the semi-title track opener is amazing. practically every one of his 70's records are worth listening to. i love his cover of Jonathan Richman's Pablo Picasso. so driving, so powerful, especially the ending. all great stuff. |
