Why do you think everything is about you?
It was amusing to see Sacha come out on stage with Beck on Letterman doing Nausea. His bit on SNL to open the Hugh Laurie-hosted show was pathetically bad, and even worse than the rest of the skits; Hugh Laurie's "protest song" thing was cute, but not funny. Da Ali G show sucks. |

I suppose Cohen has put Kazakhstan on the map now.
It was amusing to read that they refused him admittance, but in the wake of the media promotion for Borat, have changed their mind. I loved Gervais' original The Office and I like Extras. The American The Office (with Greg Daniels and Gervais producing) however, is even better. It's my favorite show. I cannot wait for every new episode (& to watch it tonight!) |

Also,Gervais is what british people go on about when they want to brag about british sense of humor wich is boring round these parts.Morris is something else.

The English version is higher art, melodramatically speaking. The American version is the funniest shit I've seen in a long time. It has unseated Curb Your Enthusiasm as the most hilarious show on television.
Actually, I was about to express my disappointment with Chris Morris. He can be funny, but I was expecting my mind to be blown from what I had heard about him. Paulybee recommended him highly and I have a full disc of his bits, but, ultimately, it's not my cup of tea either. Good comedy writing is a very tough nut to crack. Some Monty Python isn't funny either, but the stuff that is funny is some of the most brilliant comedy ever. I suppose I'll always judge British humor by that impossible standard, much to my chagrin. |

I'm very strict when it comes to comedy.Very few writers i trust and make me laugh.Chris Morris is a someone i respect(as well as Hicks and the italian Toto)but i generally take very few reccomendations on this unlike, say, music or film.Gervais is a one or two trick pony.

You're reading my mind. That's exactly who I had in mind as a point of possible comparison...Bill Hicks. I figured Chris Morris would rock me philosophically whilst tickling my funny bone like he did.
Tool used Hicks routines. Stereolab used Chris Morris. I suppose, in that sense, Morris is better hehee. I've never heard of Toto. I'll have to look into that. I'm half-Italian myself. |

Chris Morris is way more otherwordly than Bill Hicks but they both share a thing:they'll both point things out,one way or another.

Ali G went to the states after he exhausted his possibilities in the UK and took the piss out of the US, and everyone was oblivous to him doing so. Now he's huge there. Ironic.

It seems like a dumb movie, I'll eventually watch it when it comes out in HBO.
