Hey. I've heard of the band grinderman and found out they are going to be playing near me. I've never listened to their music or anything. Are they any good? Should I go see them?

What are they like? Tickets don't go on sale for a couple more days by the way.

I've never heard any Nick Cave or Birthday Party stuff. Always has been on my list just more towards the bottom.

I just found out Slint is playing Spiderland just a couple days after that and I'm seeing SY play Daydream the same week so now I might see Slint instead since I can't afford to see all the concerts and be able to keep my job. I don't know, still haven't decided yet.

Bearing in mind how much Grinderman tickets cost, I'd go to their myspace (www.myspace.com/grinderman) and have a listen to what's on there before shelling out any money.
I'm seeing them next week. |

At least half of the album is REALLY good, the other half isn't on the same level, but it's till more than simple fillers in a row. Guess they're a great live band, too.

Grinderman is my favourite album of this year (for the moment !) It's a great noisy-melodic music with a weird violin ! You can notice that the drummer is called Jim Sclavunos...

yeah, just skip sonic youth
re: grinderman: I'm a huge Nick Cave fan, and I was a bit disappointed with the Grinderman album as it's not a regular Nick Cave album, but perhaps I should take it another try. But it's Cave and Warren Ellis of Dirty Three too, so it will be a good show for sure edit: for samples of the full album check out www.grinderman.com

I think it's the best damn thing Cave has done since Your Funeral My Trial, which was mid '80s. I wasn't even expecting to like it, but it blew me away to hear him rocking that hard again.
