I thought this article might interest some of you. In the latest in a line of clutching at straws, the industry starts getting ideas from Pearl Jam or the Grateful Dead.
In other news, the Beatles' cash cow being milked some more Thoughts? Diatribes? Asinine comments about how it doesn't matter and have you seen the latest photograph I took of myself?

I quite like the idea, in theory. Obviously, there's not a massive cost to putting out a live record, and presumably it'll be print-on-demand, which is more in line with lean manufacturing (something the record industry has always been shit at). I don't think it'll save the industry, but it'll probably keep it in stasis at the brink for another few years.

I like the idea of pressing them before you leave the concert like they did for the orchestra. I'm sure when I go to the show on 11/22 if I can take home a copy of the show for under 20 bucks I'll bite.

the short version: sound egineers from abbey road are going to be recording certain live performances (related to EMI recording artists?) that will be pressed up and availble to buy as CD/DVD/MP3s as the audience leaves said performance |
