Ahhh....Does anyone have any idea how to go about finding out who owns the rights to certain pieces of music. ie dead people. Specifically Moondog. Specifically the song Invocation. I have it on a compilation on Honest Johns Records and the only rights info is along the lines of "this compilation is copyright honest johns records" etc...not who they licensed it from or anything. Does he have an estate or anything?
Of course I have done some internet rooting around and haven't come up with anything definitive....Any help would be appreciated. It's for an actual film and stuff. |

I have no idea. The people I know who have used songs in films either a) stole them or b) badgered the distributers/ record labels, on the phone, to find out information. Generally, the old world technique of phone will yield better results than otherwise in such situations.
