This doesnt seem too prominent anywhere. I basically got into it because I couldnt find a 4 track for cheap so instead I got 100 answering machine cassette tape loops for like $18 on Ebay and started working....
Its very difficult to splice cassette tape, its so small and fragile. Anyone in here experiment with it? I need some advice or any suggestions on what to do because theres nothing on the internet about it. I usually try to take my 30 second loop tapes and cut out the blank part of the tape to make them flow better but only did this successfully a couple of times. I also experimented with rubbing different chemicals on the magnetic tape and its worked quite well.... |

Yeah, I think we had this conversation before. You live south of the city and I live north of the city right?

I made my own cassette loop once and put Prince doing his 'uuuu-uhhh' high shreik thing on it. It got stuck in my girlfriend's car cassette deck for a couple weeks so that's all she could listen to.

I used to play with loops & have several boom boxes going & play along with the tapes. etc...make strange music in general
i have this one sound collage on cassette somewhere ... that has some white noise & radio frequency modulation, art blakey drums, diamanda galas fading in-&-out, & me reading from norman o. brown's love's body & some time-space continuum ripping noize from an acoustic with a mic inside ran through an amp with high gain another one that still sounds good to me has some looped gutteral "cowboy noises" along with some riffs that sound like guitar strings are ripping through your soft flesh...the drums are me banging on a cast aluminum sculpture the same tape features me doing a cover of (I can't get no) satisfaction sounding like it might if violent femmes did the song or something...i recorded the stuff before i ever learned how to play really (about 17 years ago) but the basic riff is there... |
