Here is a thread for Glitch Hop and all related, just as pointless styles: glitch hop, wonky, dubstep, skweee, aquacrunk and so on and so on. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on the subject - except the dubstep thread by ZEROpumpkins.
Anyone else into this sound? I've been really getting into it lately. There are so many great things getting released... Share your favorites, latest discoveries, etc. My personal favorites (no order): Flying Lotus (of course...) Nosaj Thing (Drift has got to be one of my favorite albums of 2009) Prefuse 73 J Dilla (he's not really glitch hop, but he's had such a massive influence on it that I find it appropriate) Lukid (Foma is really really good) Harmonic 313 Dabrye Dial81 Dorian Concept (he's got this fantastic song, Color Sexist. The rest is good as well) Hudson Mohawke Mesak I've just discovered Mount Kimbie, and they've got this amazing track "Taps". You should check it out. |

Yes! It's so good - and addictive. And a real grower. At first I didn't like it that much but I've quickly grown addicted. IOIO and Light #2 are great. So are all the other tracks of the album.

FoxBen, you should check out Dorian Concept. As you like Nosaj Thing I think you would love it. It's kinda in the same vibe.

hahaha
unfortunately most things labeled "glitch hop" have close to nothing to do with glitch - which makes this label even more pointless. Yet it's the most accurate for this sound, I guess... Which is why I used it |

Ah, I've heard Flying Lotus, J Dilla and Prefuse 73.
I thought it'd be glitch music with weird beats or something hahaha. |

ahah yeah, that's quite what i was looking for when i first heard about glitch hop as well. it turned out it's quite a different thing, yet super interesting... Though the amount of names describing it is ridiculous.

So it's just dubstep with a different name?

you do know that wonky is an even less credible musical form than either skweee or aquacrunk, don't you?
it's mostly because skweee is the sound that squirrels make when you step on them and aquacrunk uses clever naming-techniques to hide the fact that there's white boys making it. wonky on the other hand, was nothing but unfashionable from the moment diamonds touched the vinyl it was pressed into. it's shit made by shit people with shit parents. I say this not because I care, but because glice has you on ignore and he would want it this way. |

Ahah yeah. I quoted skwee and aquacrunk for comedic purposes, actually. Those names make me laugh. Though skweee has actually really a specific sound. |

no, it's not much like dubstep at all other than being electronic and not aimed specificly at the dance floor |

I gotta admit, I didn't really "get" Prefuse 73's new one. I liked some of his stuff but the new one just sounded like random sounds fucked with in Fruity Loops or something. I am guessing that's not how he did it but it just sounded a bit... like... nothing. Floating in the ether.

I wanna hear some super glitch-hop. Like, stuttering vocals, cd-skipping beats, etc. Basically the things that come into your head when you hear glitch-hot. I heard a Kid606 (who I don't like)/Mike Patton (who I don't like) collaborative song one time that kinda had this sound and it was surprisingly cool. But still.
