I like to stay away from starting threads about myself and other mundane things, but JESUS, I hate my computer!

I've gone through a week of hell with the stupid thing (I'm sure you've all noticed I've been absent, and if you haven't keep it to yourself!). Anyway, I took to some geeks to fix, honestly the company is called Geeks, and they told me it was a 'lost cause, hopeless, and a machine with a lot of problems'.

I paid $47.00 for them to tell me this, I pick it up, take it home, and it decides it's not sick anymore. Granted I've lost everything, I'm here.

Anyway, what did I miss?

I'll join in on this computer destroying, I've has an iPod since the summer and haven't been able to add new songs to it because my computer is a fucking cunt. Windows 2000 rot in HELL.

shit man. maybe you just need a mac. i personally can't stand them, but they are good for some. they crash-- they do! but you can't do anything about it, unlike pcs, and in that way they avoid headaches-- they work or they won't-- simply that. they do work most of the time though.

you didn' tmiss much i guess. it's been pretty slow lately.

that's gotta be some of the best news for this board. of course im sure this jeopardizes the quality of his own life.

you might want to upgrade to xp pro-- not home. 2000 is great & solid but not very user-friendly: a server OS, really.

It's not up to me, it's up to mother of mine. A couple months ago she was looking into buying a new computer but as far as I know she's changed her mind. She doesn't give a shit anyway, the time she spends on the computer is minimal.

No, I didn't. I read Ada, or Ardor by Nabokov instead, among other things. I read a lot of books over the summer and fall. Anyway, I needed a break from several things, SY forum being one of them. I kind of feel like an asshole for jetting off with no explanation, and I'm sorry about that. It's probably a good idea if I don't try to take charge of anything around here from now on, because I'm not "internet dependable," I suppose. And I'm not sure how much I'm going to be around.

But nice to see you again, Russian letters. I'm glad you think my return is good news.

I did figure out my problem though (well someone on an iPod forum directed me to a troubleshooting thing)

I'm nearly done reading it, and excited to see a local theater has adapted it into a play.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed the book -- I wasn't really diggin it too much. I knew that the book club was not holding together well and figured it might break up if I split. It probably would have even if I hadn't. Oh well.
