you know the more I listen to this album, the more it impresses me.
as a reggae archivist and especially a reggae musican, I can spot so many elements of purist reggae in this album it is incredible, they did a little bit of everything that is reggae music, all the styles, all the nuances, all the flavors, like no other reggae compilation I can think of actually.. of course I might expect it with such artists as Israel Vibrations, Morgan Herritage, Toots and the Maytals, Horace Andy, Sugar Minott and the Meditations.. and to top it off, it is a cover of OK Computer, which is by no means your ideal reggae album.. anyone else really enjoy this album? Easy-Star All Stars "Radiodread"

Radiodread is a 2006 album by the Easy Star All-Stars, a collaboration of reggae and ska artists. They have released one album previously, Dub Side of the Moon, a reggae take on Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. Radiodread is a complete, song by song makeover of Radiohead's OK Computer into reggae, ska, and dub.
Easy Star Records CEO and executive producer of the album said: "Reggae has always tackled dark subject matter, but manages to do it in a way that still conveys hope at the bleakest moments. Radiohead's approach is similar." Michael Goldwasser, who produced Dub Side of the Moon and produced and arranged Radiodread: "OK Computer has elements that are perfect [for reggae] -- strong melodies, intense dynamics and trippy soundscapes. On the other hand, it has complex time signatures, lots of chord changes and things that typically aren't found in reggae. However, the more we looked at it, the more we realized that this was an album we had to do. Radiohead has given their blessing to the tracks they've heard so far, and we are excited for them to hear the complete album." The track listing is identical to OK Computer's, and no songs were changed by the Easy Star All-Stars, except for "Fitter Happier" (which has slightly altered lyrics to fit the style, with permission from Radiohead), and "Paranoid Android". The new lyrics are essentially the same, but phrased differently, including some Jamaican patois. For example, "God loves his children" becomes "Jah loves his children". [edit] Track listing The track listing is the same as Radiohead's OK Computer, with two bonus tracks:

Talking of people doing 'remix' albums with songs by other people, I really like what Two Ton Sloth did with Broadcast's songs.

Easy Star All-Stars are GREAT! Their version of Dark Side Of The Moon is infinitely more interesting than the original.

I did as well, though I am a reggae addict so I was much less bored than you... I danced well through the whole set and missed it when it was gone, I was surprised that they did it as well live on their own without all of the big artists from the album.. the main reason I got the album was for the artists involved, and was pleasantly surprised that the band and music was as impressive as the artists who participated..
