Hadn't listened to HTT in a while. It's a really good set. But out of curiosity, why did they choose to play every song at marathon speed? Was it T aiming at hardcore, or speed induced intensity or what? I mean, they're playing like someone's chasing them with a butcher knife.

Vox only sound chipmunky if it's REALLY sped up.. actually, if the pitch is raised when being sped up.
If it was sped up, it was sped up like 1% |

the tape was sped up to fit the LP format, remember this is back in 1987 and the cd was pretty new then.

But wasn't the CD supposedly remastered by Wharton in 97? (This is from memory... maybe I'm wrong?)

I think they were just playing fast. Seems like the mood (augmented by the 4 Ramones covers, which incidentally DON'T sound sped up-- like "Beat On The Brat" is played same speed as MASTERDIK version).

ding ding ding. it's only a fraction, but i think the Gs sound as G#s, or somewhere in that glorious semitone between.
