I'd disagree with "most music sucks"... albeit I do find a wide range of music to be dull, it doesn't necessarily mean I don't think there's any value to it at all.

i am still confused as to what people mean when they say "asian music". i mean asia is a big fucking place with a ton of countries, each of which (for the most part) has a rich history, its own culture if not many different cultures and histories. so i am not really sure what anybody, except for someone deeply rooted in western prejudice and misconceptions of "the east" could mean when they declare that an entire continent's music sucks or that most of its music "seems to be some weird tacky interpretation of other music."

yeah, I don't always agree with sway (as I just mentioned in my previous post). But... it gets annoying to visit here frequently only to see people revert to overreacting towards difference of opinion. I think majority of the users on here have been guilty at least once of posting something kind of silly in the past. The drama isn't necessary though... yet for the 2 or 3 years I've been posting here I've noticed it always comes back. If you've been listening to Sonic Youth all this time and convinced yourselves that Pavement or Truman's Water are the pinnacle of eccentric taste, think twice, you're just as narrow-minded as before because you're now feeling complacent to the point you’ve stopped noticing that your curiosity does have a limit, after all. I mean, for someone to dismiss all ''Asian music'' because it sucks, so blatantly and unashamedly on a public forum, it proves once more that 90% of music fans, to semi-quote John Sharkey, are some of the worst people in the world.

Also, people who make such claims imply that ''Asian music'' is a cauldron filled with sounds produced by all Oriental musicians in the same vein, with the same intents, and little in terms of different artistic and geographical attitudes towards music-making. It doesn’t really take long to go on the internet and compare Aunt Sally to, say, G.I.S.M. or KK Null etc.
