Little Trouble Girl
Does anyone actually like this song? I love Washing Machine, but have never been able to like this track at all. I just think that, had this song not been included on the album, Washing Machine would have been perfect.
|
I actually like it. It's not one of my favourites, but I like it.
|
50/50
|
I thought it was so adorable when I heard it three years ago. Kim Deal's girlie, sweet vocal performance nearly moved me to tears. Since then, though, the novelty's worn off.

But why? |
I used to really dislike when I first got the album, mostly because the kid in the video freaked me out and I never got over it, BUT;
I think now that it's as good as any other song on the album (except the title track and the diamond sea). Sure, it's not completely 'sonic' in all the standard SY ways, but it's still a fucking awesome song. The guitars are far out and the double vocals are so sweet... it's pretty surreal overall and thats whats good about it. |
interesting departure, i dont think it works but its a good idea to revise the harmony centred sound with 2 female singers who dont really sing in a traditionally harmonic way. the songs too weak to carry it though.
|
like said aove, its a novelty
brcuz and junkies promise barr washing machine from perfection for me. im really glad they put the first ad 2nd, so that i can skip them easily |
Junkies Promise is a mssively annoying song, were it not for that the first half of washing machine would flow nicely
|
Becuz is brilliant.
|
i really like it.. it has such a 'road movie' vibe.
|
i don't really think there's a bad song on "washing machine". "little trouble girl" doesn't really fit the album, but i still like it as a song.
|
i like little troubler, with it's 60's girl group references/homages/deconstructions. junkeez promise should have been a b-side. if i remember correct they used to play it live, and i wished they had skipped it for anything else on that record.
|
i don't like it. my copy of washing machine is scratched and luckily only on that song. my copy of daydream nation is also scratched on the only song i don't like, total trash...still looking forward to the remasters though, so i can listen to it without skipping...
|
I don't like Washing Machine very much at all... don't like this song much.. I used to HATE it, though...
I only like, like, 3 songs on WM... |

Little Trouble Girl was actually the song that drawn my attention to Sonic Youth and made me pick up Washing Machine CD at a store down the street.
So I'm pretty thankful, although the song itself is not that great. |
I quite like it. Think it captures innocence well. IN MY OPINION, MIND!!
|
I agree with the innocence.
|
Can't get into it really.
I never really tried too but I really can't stand this song. Sorry Kim Giggedy Giggedy |
Why do people not like Junkie's Promise? I don't see why its so bad...
|
Not as bad as panty lies..
|
i like it, it gives washing machine more variety. one of the best albums ever...
|
I really like it but agree it doesnt fit with the album. However I'm one of those people that really digs variety from bands and like the shift in mood - that being said there's a lot familor there too and some really nice kind of freeform layed back guitar.
In fact the only thing that bugs me about Washing Machine is the chorus from No Queen Blues - I dont give a fuck blah blah blah... its something i would write and instantly burn. |
The whole album is fanatastic. Probably my favourite Sonic album. Maybe it was the time.
As for Little Trouble Girl....the song is just 'realized'. It almost get to where it wants to go...but doesn't realize it. Very foreboding. IMO, an idea not completed. Impressionistic... |
I don't get why there's so much hate for Junkie's Promise and Panty Lies...now if somebody said they don't like No Queen Blues, that I could understand.

I agree. I guess it all depends on what people think makes Sonic Youth important. To me, the group didn't make enough statements on this album. I think that exploratory, atmospheric - though not necessarily noisy - music is what they do so well. |

I did say No Queen Blues |
little trouble girl was written for a movie, and then added onto washing muchine.
|
Panty Lies - One of my favorites off of Washing Machine (pretty much my fav SY album for playing start to end.) Its so horridly dischordant but it creates this wicked eerie atmosphere and the part thats like 'ee-ee-ee-ee' is soooo good. Its a creepy summer night kind of song. ____ Junkies Promise- to me seems like the hit song off of washing machine. When i first started listening to this album i didn't think any song had any hook whatsoever except this song. Guitars sound thoroughly fucked and the jam out at the end is cool.
|
Little Trouble Girl : well, why not ? But a little bit boring. Too calm for me.
Washing Mashine : Good album, with great Lee' songs ( Saucer Like is the first SY song I've heard), good tunes, nice guitars... and a fucking orgasmic finale !!!! |
Yeah Lees songs are brilliant on this album. But they usually are aren't they? I can' think of a bad Lee song...

but I couldn't. GREAT track! |
little trouble girl is the scariest song of all time it sounds like some girl group from the 50's on acid freaking out
|
I dig it a lot. The vocals are so nice. Its got a good pop feel to it.

"EH EH EH EH EH EH EH EH!!!" No Queen Blues "NONONONONONONONONONONONONONO!!" Junkies Promise never bothered me that much. I think it's just the lyrics. |
man i really dig no queen blues its acutally one of my favs off of washing machine
|
Yeah, it's ok. Panty Lies is worse.
|
No queen blues is GREAT!
panty lies is GOOD! |
i think washing machine in its entirety is one of there best albums
