You can't beat a gigantic sword filled with the power of dead evil spirits. This is the only giant sword I would wield. I'm more fond of thinner blades...like samurai swords...

I'm generally fond of thinner blades as well, mainly in that they can be wielded more artfully. But Guts has his enormous slab of iron that he wields with great ease. And, a subtle difference, but I more so understood it as being stained by the thousands of evil spirits he'd slain, over time becoming tempered by their very evil.
