And it hasn't aged one bit. In its honour I'm going to learn how to play a song off it. I haven't decided which one I'll go for yet.

The first riff I've ever learned to play is ''Paranoid''. The second is The Ramones' ''
The KKK Took My Baby Away''. |

The first riff I ever learned was Ocean Colour Scene's Riverboat Song. It was in a beginner's guitar book.

Wow. Plus Chinese New Year, and Presidents' Day Eve. If there has ever been a Sunday night with reasons to party!

I never learned a guitar riff cause I don't play the guitar. Probably the reason why I won't party tonight, too.

It was a Urusei Yatsura riff - Pow R Ball, I think.
The first full song I learnt (no bullshit) was Radiohead's Paranoid Android (Johnny and Thom's parts).

Actually the first riff I ever learned was The White Stripes' Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground but I was 9 and didn't know how to tune the guitar so I just detuned the E string till it sounded right and learned the notes by ear from that one string.

It is a mistake to believe that it is possible to substitute "provisionally" the absolute power of a Central Committee (acting somehow by "tacit delegation") for the yet unrealizable rule of the majority of conscious workers in the party, and in this way replace the open control of the working masses over the party organs with the reverse control by the Central Committee over the revolutionary proletariat.

that's really the first you learned?! That's amazing! I love that riff... dun DUN chunchunchunchunchunchunchun dun-dUn-dun-dUn-duhduh dow-wow woooooooo. I love JD's simplistic, inventive riffs... The bass riff in Colony, for example (0-10-12 on lowest string for 5 minutes) is perfect beyond belief. |
