i have so many issues with this term. --this is not referred to Dave, i am just taking the opportunity to express myself and once again be off topic. there is surely smth going on when you or while you reach the age, mid-life is associated with. however, i dislike especially the word 'crisis' that is used. i dont like the chiches and stereotypes and irony about people's behavior and choices while they are at it. i must find another word to replace it. because it isnt exactly a crisis and crisis usually has a negative meaning, right? yes. revelation? revision? revival? also, mid-life goes along with the false assumption that we people have about not dieing before our time. and usually we assume that our time is after our 80s. but of course, we havent signed any such contract. but its ok. that false assumption is contradicted by the fear of death and of 'early death' and noone could stand living with this fear constantly on his/her mind. yeah i understand it, if here is where the word 'crisis' falls in. the problem with this false assumption, is that in many cases it make us delay taking action in whatever we want to do with our lives. i have midlife crisis since i was 19 and i prefer to have midlife re-smth now. |
