LA used to be a mecca for murals and street art.. there were murals on practically every street corner... then about ten years ago the county supervisors and city council passed "signage ordinances" calling murals business signs not art, instituted a licensing fee and went on a crackdown. This was promoted by the major corporate advertising companies like clearchannel and abc.. admittedly to compound the situation a lot of small businesses were abusing murals by hiring graff artists to spray paint their business signs to try and avoid the ordinary business sign license BUT the county and city know the difference between corrupt signs and sincere art yet they decided to crackdown on both regardless. Now? Murals are very rare in a city that was once saturated. Indeed i miss it terribly

Not really. However it does have this awesome one
Preston isn't exactly a cultural hub, so stuff like this is rare.

miami had some in the more ghetto areas or wynwood area... the ghetto types were all the work of this one artist who did designs for like, convenience stores. i always remember the 'newpot filters' (quote unquote) on this place in the hood

We still got a few murals left in South LA and Watts indeed someone just painted a bad ass one across the street from my church but mural culture used to be pan-LA not just confined to the graffiti communities

we have PSV scattered on almost every wall. Does that count too?
but there's also this area we call Berenkuil where there's a lot of graffiti. There's even world championships organised there once in a while
