Found this blog the other day:
http://whatanicewaytoturn17.blogspot...ruin-boss.html It has a lovely pic of Epic with Thurston... ... as well as the story of Epic compiling a SY discography for a fanzine. Sadly looks like it never was published. |

Well, I remember downloading here the Sonic Life (the unofficial fanzine from the 80's) issues and there is actually one issue with a SY discography, but I don't think it is the one. Because, in the conclusion it said there there is another discography compiled by Epic Soundtracks for the WANWTT fanzine (so the one mentioned in the blog then).
Or perhaps I miss a later SY Life issue with the Epic discography. |

Here's Thurston's sleeve notes from Swell Maps "Collision Time Revisited" in their original unedited form. Also from WANWTTTS blog.

Yeah, that’s what I was referring to, because I downloaded it there assuming it was Epic's too. But have you actually read the notes ?
“As you can see this has been a discog for SONIC YOUTH only, there are a whole lot more involvements by individual members and that whole lot is currently being put together by EPIC SOUNDTRACKS for the ‘zine WHAT A GODDAM GROOVY WAY TO TRUN 17 – available hopefully soon after this one.” So, I reckon that this discography was not made by Epic himself, and the other one he was working on for What a goddam groovy way to turn 17 / What a nice way to turn 17 must be a more complete one (but was never released). |

Not sure this is the right place to post it, but I haven't find anywhere else....
The label Easy Action has recently reissued Epic Soundtracks' debut album, Rise Above: http://easyaction.co.uk/index.php?ro...product_id=370 The album features many bonus tracks which are SY-related: demo recording of the Epic & Lee demo of Fallen Down (entitled at the time Caroline's song) as well as a jam track of Lee and Epic (sounding more Lee-ish though) + the original Kim Gordon spoken part which was used on Epic's 'Big Apple Graveyard' |
