I like some u2 songs, and I am a somewhat fan of Oasis. Oh I am going to get chastised, for this. But screw you bastards.

I remember the Wham v Duran Duran Wars that took place in the playground. A desperately bloody affair. The Duranies may have had the moral high ground but the Whamsters had the sheer numbers, and the espadrilles.

I've always thought that the real rivalry was between Duran Duran (I adore them) and Spandau Ballet ( I mostly loathe them, but they have some good songs). There's a resurgence of 80's style t-shirts (again!) on the street. Remember those by Frankie Goes To Hollywood ones that slagged off Wham!? Yes, those. Amen.

There was a rivalry between the 'Spans' and the Duranies.

My loyalties were compromised from the beginning. Although I was squarely in support of the Duran's cause, my girlfriend at the time was a committed Span, for whom merely listening to 'The Reflex' meant the giving out of some serious bad looks.

Of course, the Whamsters were finally overcome by internal tensions, based largely upon the inability of Andrew fans to reconcile their differences with the George dedicates.

And people think Bosnia was complicated!
