why does my girlfriend insist on wtaching these overwrought melodramatic soap operas on HBO and showtime about fringe peoples and criminals? (spranos/mafia, Dexter/seril killer, big love/polygamist mormons, etc.)

sopranos is not a boring soap opera. but the wire rules all tv shows.

about the rest i have no idea. i only get the dvd versions after much sniffing around. tv is a time hole.
