so i'm making this thread because klaus nomi was really fantastic and i think is seriously underappreciated.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=C_A6IR58Htg i'm not going to even post any of the new wave stuff because i think that performance pretty much stands on its own but you get the idea.

Genius, no less. Check out Leigh Bowery too, I sense that you might like him too.

Now I know who's the disturbing guy that did backing vocals for Bowie around 1979 :

I saw that SNL when it originally aired. Saw that bio movie last year which was good, kind of sad, I don't think I would have liked him much as a person but his performance was wild.
Nomi is just one example of the cultural destruction that happened on such a massive scale in the US in the 80's due to AIDS. I wonder what our culture would have been like if AIDS hadn't happened. |

i watched that documentary on the sundance channel early this morning. i think klaus and i would've gotten along well. the part about him dying...and when they showed the clip of him singing "the cold song" (the one i posted above) was really sad. his earlier performances were amazing. i was hypnotized by the one at the vaudeville show.
well, i'm off to take a bath and then perhaps go out to dinner before i have to leave. i could be back later on. who knows.
