fan_of_music5 has a couple of kiss-ass net friends
Alison Krauss And Robert Plant recorded a new album together that's coming out on oct. 23rd and I saw that you can pre-order it on amazon.com for a pretty cheap price. It's gonna be great to hear the collaboration between these 2 different artists. has anybody heard this yet? thoughts? comments?

I disagree, his recent shows I saw or heard were very good and he sings better now in my opinion than on the Page & Plant records more than ten years ago.

In addition Dreamland and Mighty rearranger are quite good.

What a bunch of close-minded Grumpy Gusses you fucks are.
Luckily, Marc Ribot doesn't share your pre-judging mentality.
Seriously, if someone can actually sing well and/or play proficiently, then they always seem to get slagged-on here at this messageboard.

Editorial Reviews
Product Description
The musical collaboration of the decade, Raising Sand is the sound of two iconic figures stepping out of their respective comfort zones and letting their instincts lead them across a brave new sonic landscape. Despite hailing from distinctly different backgrounds, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant share a maverick spirit and willingness to extend the boundaries of their respective genres. This spirit, expertly honed by producer T Bone Burnett, has resulted in an album pitched three steps beyond some cosmic collision of early urban blues, spacious West Texas country, and the untapped potential of the folk-rock revolution. Supported by the unparalleled musicianship of Marc Ribot, Dennis Crouch, Mike Seeger, Jay Bellerose, Norman Blake, Greg Leisz, Patrick Warren, and Riley Baugus, Plant and Krauss -- as both solo and harmony vocalists -- tackle an intriguing selection of songs from such tunesmiths as Tom Waits, Gene Clark, Sam Phillips, Townes Van Zandt, The Everly Brothers, and Mel Tillis. Raising Sand finds Robert Plant and Alison Krauss exploring popular music's elemental roots while still sounding effortlessly, breath-takingly contemporary.

Spiritual Unity

What is Spiritual Unity? Spiritual Unity is a group formed by Marc Ribot dedicated to re-creating and re-imagining the music of the great saxophonist Albert Ayler, one of the pillars of modern jazz.To Ribot, playing Ayler's music is a "ritual process, through improvisation, of experiencing and presenting the rawest moment of musical creation."

Spiritual Unity features the great bassist Henry Grimes, who played on many of Ayler's seminal recordings from the 1960s. After Grimes returned to the jazz scene in 2003, Ribot knew that the time had come to realize his long-time dream of forming a collective band to play this music. This is only the second release to feature Grimes since his return to music. Spiritual Unity also features eclectic trumpeter Roy Campbell and drummer Chad Taylor, best known for his work with the Chicago Underground.

SU's album is available in the store section of this website. The album features one original by Ribot and four songs by Ayler. Ribot's "Invocation" opens the album and is exactly that - an invocation of the Ayler spirit. This is followed by "Spirits," one of Ayler's catchy and instantly recognizable tunes. "Truth is Marching In" is next, another of Ayler's signature tracks, featuring a long, mournful intro that suddenly breaks into a warped march. This is followed by the more spacious "Saints." The album closer "Bells," recorded live at Tonic the night before the studio session, proves that the band succeeds both live and in the studio.

Spiritual Unity will TOUR EUROPE in February of 2008. The tour page will always contain the most current information.

he is a fucking tired old man. fuck him and fuck his horrible lyrics.

At least someone here isn't acting like a hysterical jealous bitch going off into judgmental histrionics. Robert Plant and his band are good live. I saw them last year on Austin City Limits. Alison Krauss and Union Station are worth your time too. I'm a fan; I get her newsletter and went to see them last year.
