I said yes. I don't know how cool it would actually be, but it's an interesting idea.

it's double format, one side = "regular" cd, other side = 5" vinyl.

I think it is neat. I do not see however, how you could play the CD side without scratching the vinyl side, or how you could play the vinyl side without scratching the CD side.

That's what I was thinking, especially playing the CD, the vinyl side would get ruined. Just a neat concept though.

you'd have to lay down the shiny CD side on your turntble to play the vinyl side, which, since CD's are notoriously wussy pusy soft and easy to scratch, could ruin yr shit. also, many CD players have you slide your cd in an that could damage the vinyl side.

a) your turntable should have a nice soft slip pad on it, or you'd be scratching up the flip side of whatever you happen to be playing regardless... they're pretty cheap and should be replaced frequently. many record labels sell them with band or label logos on them, or you can just get the standard technics pads... http://image.bizrate.co.uk/resize?sq...967&mid=103290 b) i know what you're saying about car stereos in particular where the disk just slides in... but most good stereos have a tray that pops out like a computer or a cover that opens up and lets you place the disc on the spindle. and most good car stereos have a disk changer where the trays swing out on a hinge. (if they still have a cd player at all and not XM and an mp3 player....)

i heard about these.
the vinyl side is kinda in between a flexi and a lathe, with the bad side of both. appeantly (from what i've read) the vinyl side is too hard on needles or something but, at the same time, the grooves are delicate, like those on the flexi. |

The biggest problem, even if you find a good solution for not scratching either side, is that while you get a full album in the cd side, you only get about 3 minutes on the vinyl side. And I know the point is to get CD users to try vinyl, but unless this is the ONLY an album gets released, face it, people who buy only cd's will probably just buy the cd.
