Bummer. Kind of like having a rock star you grew up listening to pass on.
I have issues with what he unleashed on the world in terms of the homogenizing and genericizing effect on much of Fantasy literature. However, I wonder how much good stuff I was pulled to in part from his popularization of the genre. |

Yeah, he probably deserves at least 24 hours before we start at that. I'm glad I didn't put anything about negative hit points in my thread title. |

Should have upped his Stamina stats. That's all I'm saying. No more from me.

Not a big D&D fan here, but I admire Gygax's (<--is this correct?) work. R.I.P.

not Gygax, and I know I've said it before....but Famine in Far-Go was my favorite RPG module. I couldn't get enough of those fucking mutant chickens. not many games allow you to infiltrate a post-apocoalyptic chicken processing plant. |

He achieved something special; I have a lot of respect for him. This is very sad news indeed.

Yeah, I never played D&D so excuse my poor understanding of the lexicon.
I do remember my brother had some Star Wars D&D books but I could never figure them out. Apparently my brother never did either, I think we were missing the basic guide. Anyways cool art which fueled my imagination anyway. |

Gary Gygax interview 2001
kp: What is the correct pronunciation of Gygax (is it guy-gacks or jai-gacks)? gg: Auf (Switzer) Deutsche, it is "Ghe-gox." Many of the family use that pronounciation. My part of the family has Americanized to be pronounced "Guy-gacks." kp: Do you have 20-sided dice hanging from your rear-view mirror? gg: No, nor do I own an auto... the rest... http://www.kittenpants.org/11_Loneliest/gygax.asp |
