Anyone seen this movie? What did you think? I just got finished watching it and I feel pretty let down. I've heard so much on the internet and from friends about how good it is, how brutal it is etc but it just didn't do anything for me. There were things I thought were good like the manic camerawork in the gay club coupled with the droning siren soundtrack and the black figure who walks in on the rape and runs away again but the movie seemed to run out of ideas pretty quickly, the whole backstory we see after the rape seems kind of like it's there to fill time, sure we need to know that everything was fine and good before but that should only take 5-10 minutes. It felt like the backwards storytelling was just a way to keep you watching a story that wouldn't hold much attention the other way round.
I watched Harmony Korine's Gummo recently and I loved that. there wasn't much story to it but it kept me enthralled the whole way through but this just bored me |

I also love harmony korine's work. I've seen all of his films.
As far as irreversible, I liked it. The camera work of Gaspar Noe was the best part as you said. I actually wouldve loved to see it in theatres, he actually modified the soundtrack by throwing in low frequencies so you would get sick during the club scenes. I felt it kind of lost its impact after the rape scene. Still a good film though. |

I saw Ken Park, really hedonistic... Who knew teenagers could have so much fun :P And as for Irreversible, justice is; as they say; might. Cool...

I have seen ken park. I thought it was worth seeing, but I liked kids a lot more. It's more Larry Clark's film than it is Harmony.
Julien Donkey Boy is an even better HK film than gummo in my opinion. It's his best work so far. |

I've only seen Gummo...this guy that I chat with is Harmony Korine's cousin. I don't know how well he knows him, though.

no just more story. seems to me like the director thought "i'd love to have a realistic brutal rape scene in a movie. I'm gonna make it anyway, i'll think of a story on set"

if it wasnt for the fact the movie was shown in reverse,i don't think there would be much to it.Why would you be so vicious to Monica Bellucci?

I've seen it last week on tv and was a little disappointed. I think that this film should've ended a few minutes after the rape scene cause it began to be pretty boring since then.
