To his credit though, he was able to derive an important lesson from the dream (the part about always having condoms on hand). Dreams definitely can be instructive & even predict future events. --- Relating to SpectralJulianIsNotDead's Pot thread, research has shown that chronic use of marijuana is directly related to the lack of being able to achieve deep & restful sustained rem sleep. This is the herb's major drawback. It's a trade-off because use of marijuana & psychedelics in general allows one to open up pathways to the unconscious that are keyed into conscious activity while one is in a waking state. Despite sleep aids being a burgeoning multi-billion dollar business annually, the most common sleep aid used by people is alcohol. The latest science frowns upon this & suggests that it is a rather poor sleep aid. Alcohol, being a depressant, may alllow one to pass out, but results in broken sleep, & some amount of difficulty attaining rem (as well). The main cause is that alcohol causes the body to wake itself up for intermittent trips to the bathroom since alcohol is a diuretic & causes the body to lose water. Some people wonder why alcohol makes them feel ebullient if it is a depressant. The reason is that alcohol depresses the frontal lobe first, resulting in a loss of inihibitions, before it eventually depresses the rest of the brain. |

As I mentioned earlier, I recently had a steamy backseat car dream very shortly before being involved in some car related debauchery. In the dream I was in the car on the way to lunch. At lunch I didn't have any money and so I had to ask her to pay for me.
The next day I wrote a song about the dream that related feelings of being dominated (she was on top of me), feelings of being in debt and chained to this girl(she paid for my lunch), as well as feelings of strong previous attraction that warranted no need to be chained through debt because there already was an emotional one. What is interesting is that the actual event that happened several days later I decided to bring money with me when going for a ride with a girl and 2 other people (I paid for my food) and the car event (which happened after) had similar repercussions to the dream. In the real event just like the dream, there was touching and physically closeness involved but no sex. The next day I decided I felt bad because I must have stimulated new emotions towards me. However, my analysis wasn't the case. I ended up realizing that I always liked this girl and that I felt I wanted to do things for her very similar to my dream/song. Here is where the lesson comes in: I got my hopes up for a girl that I never meant to start anything with and then was let down, then I felt burdened that I had promised to do several things for her. So I think my subconcious could have been warning me that something like this might happen, because subconciously I knew that I liked this girl and something was bound to happen. |

I used to do that all the time. I'd write down all my interesting dreams in my journal, they're fun to look back on and show people

I told my mom about some of my dreams. She started suggesting me completely uninteresting girls I should go out with.

This thread is really interesting... Has anyone read Spirit Molecule or any of the stuff on DMT (I think that's the name of the chemical)? I heard a little about it on some tv show awhile ago and thought it was really interesting.
Right now I'm thinking of the rape scene in fire walk with me where the woman finds out it's been her dad the whole time and that it wasn't the greasy guy named Bob. That is insane. I've never seen the twin peaks series but I really want to. I love Lynch.

That sounds just like my recurring dream of having hurried, intense sex in an airport bathroom. Sort of. Well, not really. |

My worst recurring dreams are being given salty chocolate for a treat and jumping off a plane in a parachute. In the latter i'm really frightened even though i love flying in real life.

Salty chocolate? Sounds like the ultimate betrayal. That's just wrong.
*Edit: There are also numerous porn titles/scenarios that come to mind, but this is neither the time nor the place. Have some decency about yourselves, would you? |

What kind of stroke do you do? I do the breast stroke. I have retained memories of dreams the last 4 or 5 nights. This morning one of the dreams I had involved walking through Zelienople (where I live) and somehow reading the message board. Someone had a story about how they were on 38 (no idea what road it is)and got off onto this town and found a creepy house. I was looking at a creepy house, and I was trying to compose a reply saying that the surroundings and the trees around it look Pennsylvanian, so I was going to suggest that the house had been in Zelienople and ask which direction he was coming from because I had never heard of 38. Then I realized that I was thinking as if the house just manifested infront of me, which would be silly, so I started inspecting it and reading the post closer to see if their details matched. I noticed that it had the same house number; 5555 5555 5555 was printed largely just like that on the house below the balcony. It was unsettlingly creepy looking. So I walked down the street a little and it was still across from me. I was thinking "man is 5, the devil is 6, maybe this house wants me because I'm a man." More and more it took the shape of my record player though. So I went up to it and turning it off made the creepiness sort of stop. Then I noticed a broken coin op on it too. So I pushed the nickel in (which is funny because I remember seeing a nickel in a previous dream) and I remember seeing one of WRCT's former managers behind the desk in a video that popped up. Then the snooze alarm went off, my 9 minutes were up. Is it odd that I can wake up, physically hit the snooze alarm, go back to bed, and start dreaming again in less than 9 minutes? |

ever since i finished my 3rd year exams for uni, i have felt a wave of relief... up until that point i was quite anxious... this has given way to slight boredom... pondering about what to do with my life... and intensely vivid/unsettling dreams every night... dreams that were much less vivid while i was in anxious exam / uni coursework mode...
this reminds me of an interview i read with stephen king where he said if he stopped writing even for a couple of days, he would have bad dreams... |
