http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008...rss&feed=music

the above is an article in the Guardian detailing the shutdown of iTunes acces sin China, due to some 40 athletes buying the record
Songs for Tibet, a compilation produced by the Art of Peace Foundation, a US-based Tibetan activist group. The Foundation invited Olympic athletes to download the album free of charge. By listening in Beijing, the activist group said, athletes would communicate that "compassion and non-violence can overcome intolerance and oppression - beautiful ideals to be associated with the Olympic spirit".
More than 40 athletes downloaded the album, according to a press release, which includes songs by Sting, Rush, Damien Rice, Underworld and Alanis Morissette.
And then China turned off the iTunes music store.

FUCK I hate me totalitarian governments. FUCK china and their bullshit.

i think it is hilarious that they woud get upset about a set of songs. It makes perfect sensse though, since art in all it's forms is the one true method by which social change is mitigated.
a song can change the world.
one person can change the world
china's leaders know this. they understand the power of rock, even pussy soft rock. art for the awesome rock win.

steve jobs, go fuck yrself.

the surprise for me lies in just how nonchalantly the western governments view this bullshit, and china's egregious civil rights violations.
