KRS-1 > Public Enemy it's not even fair to put either of them into the same category as to what defines hip hop these days.... honestly, early hip hop is no different than punk rock to me. the new jack crap that gets played today makes me insane (this applies to both hip hop and punk). this concludes my well-intentioned hijack and I now return you to your regularly-scheduled broadcast. |

start with Criminal Minded and By All Means Necessary (My Philosophy is the bomb-track) by Boogie Down Productions, if you like it....move forward chronologically. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KRS-One...wn_Productions (actually, maybe start with By All Means Necessary.....My Philosophy is worth it) [edit: I changed my mind again. just go with the retrospective) http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/...rospective.htm |

By All Means Necessary is less skeletal; I prefer it. Illegal Business is a friggin' anthem.

Well, at that point in time, Leaves was exactly the type of album i was searching for. But the more and more I listened to the more I wanted more Unwound and then got into everything else. It's been quite a journey.

yeah, it took me ages to get their albums, but it was so worth it. Unwound are by far my favourite non - hardcore band.
